FLYING-LOW dance technique
A dance-web – research
project
FLYING-LOW dance technique
This class created and developed by David Zambrano focuses mainly on
the dancer’s relationship with the floor (earth, ground). The class
utilizes simple movement patterns that involve breathing, speed, and
the releasing of energy through the body, in order to activate the
relationship between center and joints. Moving in and out of the ground
more efficiently by maintaining the state of being centered.
A dance-web
In the making of movement compositions, I have been very interested in
creating and developing dynamics of complex systems to present
leadership in a form of a web. I have learnt from science that cells do
not need a protein leader to create life. Neither the brain needs one
protein leader to create a thought. If I take that scientific and
personal view to a bigger picture, I could say that our world does not
need a leader to exist.
During my next Pro-Series the students and I will exercise that view
with simple physical games. We will create group dynamics that will be
somehow flexible, complex and tight together, always keeping doors open
for the unpredictable, at the same time it keeps moving constantly,
transforming the environment where we dance.
